BALLET
Ballet technique is the foundational principles of body movement and form. Ballet technique puts great emphasis on the method and execution of movement to classical music.
JAZZ
Jazz is the technical form of dance matching movement and rhythm. It uses upbeat, fun, and sometimes Broadway like music.
BALLROOM
Ballroom is a set of partner dances, which are enjoyed both socially and competitively. It features styles such as Latin, Rhythm, Smooth and Standard.
CORE/STRENGTH CLASSES
STRETCH
Full body stretching is important in increasing flexibility, decreasing muscle tension, developing core strength and improving muscular balance. Stretching can also prevent injuries and improve alignment.
PILATES
Pilates is a system of exercises designed to improve physical strength, flexibility, posture and enhance mental awareness. It emphasizes the balanced development of the body through core strength and awareness to support efficient, graceful movement.
YOGA
Yoga is a discipline that uses breathing, meditation, and bodily postures for health
and relaxation.
PROGRESSING BALLET TECHNIQUES
Progressing Ballet Techniques or PBT is an innovative program developed by Marie Walton-Mahon. This revolutionary ballet technique focuses on enhancing flexibility, muscle memory, dance medicine, and exercise to prevent injuries. This program helps dancers understand how the body works and which muscle groups take part in each movement.
LEAPS AND TURNS
Leaps and turns is an important component in every dancer’s repertoire and will enhance all dance styles. This class is designed to break down and practice the basic, more complex movements of leaps and turns.
TUMBLE
CROSS TRAINING
Cross training includes exercises that help improve the body’s natural range of motion which in turn will have a positive effect on your flexibility while dancing. Strength training improves bone density and resistance. It also let’s some muscles and tendons rest.
Tumble is a form of gymnastics performed without props or equipment. It includes rolls, cartwheels, somersaults, tucks, handstands, handsprings, and aerials.
URBAN CLASSES
HIP-HOP
Hip hop is a high-energy class that infuses the latest styles of street dancing, breaking, popping, locking and more. Classes will help students develop a strong base to evolve all their movements, giving them individuality and flavor. This mix of styles will keep students well rounded and prepared for any movements in other Urban choregraphies.
BREAKDANCING
Breaking, also known as breakdancing or b-boying/b-girling, is an athletic style of street dance. Our class is structured to show you how to develop your own styles and grow using the basics and foundation of the dance. Each student will grow in their own way as they journey through the foundation and concepts of breaking.
ALL BOYS HIP-HOP
This class will feature explosive and funky dance styles combining memory, coordination, rhythm and fun! It will feature previously mentioned styles loosely but is more focused on the energy and a little less technical. A great way to make the boys feel welcomed in the studio and grow bonds with their classmates promoting healthy companionship and rivalry!
FLOW CLASSES
LYRICAL
Lyrical dance is a slow, expressive type of dance that embodies a slow expressive type of dance that incorporates ballet techniques. Movements characterized by fluidity and grace with the dancer flowing seamlessly from one move to another while interpreting an emotion.
CONTEMPORARY
Contemporary dance is a dance style that rejects the strict rules of other techniques, instead it focuses on the expression of inner feelings. It strives to connect the mind and the body through the fluidity of dance.
PRAISE DANCE
Praise dance is a liturgical or spiritual dance that incorporates music and movement as a form of worship. Dances are choreographed to Christian music. Technical forms such as ballet, jazz, contemporary, and hip hop may be incorporated in praise dance.
